Could Erling Haaland eventually become Harry Kane’s successor at Bayern Munich? Club president Herbert Hainer is not ruling out future possibilities, although he insists the German champions are already exceptionally well equipped in attack.
Haaland’s name came up when Hainer was asked whether the Norwegian striker could become an option for Bayern if Manchester City were relegated. Bayern had previously been interested in signing the prolific goalscorer, but Hainer was quick to emphasize the strength
of Vincent Kompany’s current attacking options.
“We have an excellent forward line with Kane, Olise, Díaz and the others. We scored over 120 goals last season. So I think we’re very well equipped in attack,” Hainer told Bild (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
However, when the discussion shifted toward whether Haaland could become a target in the years after Kane eventually leaves, Hainer left the possibility open without making any promises.
“If we’re talking about the future in a few years, then there will be a new situation and we’ll see,” Hainer noted.
For now, Bayern Munich have little reason to panic about their attacking options, with Kane leading the line and Michael Olise and Luis Díaz providing additional firepower. But with Kane’s long-term future inevitably becoming a talking point eventually, the question of who could follow him at the Allianz Arena is an interesting one.
Haaland remains one of the most prolific strikers in world football, but Hainer’s comments are far from confirmation of any concrete pursuit. For Bayern, any potential move would depend on the circumstances when that future situation arrives.
