Real Madrid are reportedly “convinced” that UEFA will take action against Barcelona after sending in a dossier regarding the Negreira Case to Europe’s governing body.
UEFA issued a statement on Thursday to confirm receipt of the information from Los Blancos, with Madrid then calling for the “utmost urgency” to be applied to the matter.
Real Madrid now believe their extensive dossier “will be key for UEFA to take action against Barcelona” as they “now have the necessary information on the case” which
Madrid feel had previously been lacking, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Los Blancos think that Barcelona’s payments to Negreira “constitute a serious violation of UEFA’s code of ethics” and that their dossier justifies the need to sanction the Catalans.
Florentino Perez and Co are hoping that Barca will be stripped of their titles and given a European ban if action is taken against the Catalan giants. The Madrid chief has previously ranted that his team have had seven titles stolen from them due to the alleged corruption.
Barcelona have reacted to the updates this week by issuing a statement to clarify that UEFA have not reopened any new proceedings against the club and they are still waiting for the criminal case to be held in Spain.
