The Pittsburgh Steelers are planning to sign wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
“Veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling plans to sign with the Steelers, a league source told The Athletic,“ DeFabo said on X. ”The expectation is the 31 year old will begin on the practice squad. Second year in a row he’s reuniting with Aaron Rodgers in Pittsburgh.“
Valdes-Scantling joined the Steelers nearly one year ago on October 27, 2025. He appeared in five games for
the Steelers, catching 10 passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. The veteran wideout appeared in three games with the Los Angeles Chargers this season, catching two passes for 22 yards. He was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in 2018 when Mike McCarthy was the head coach.
The Steelers are thin at the wide receiver position. Both Michael Pittman and Roman Wilson are on IR, and Ben Skowronek missed Week 6 due to a leg injury. The Steelers elevated Brandon Smith and Brandon Johnson from the practice squad, but the only wide receivers to catch passes were DK Metcalf and Germie Bernard.
