Fresh off a 73-71 loss to the USC Trojans, the Wisconsin Badgers are taking on the Minnesota Gophers once again on Wednesday, looking to bounce back after recently going on a five-game winning streak.
In their loss over the weekend, Wisconsin had an ugly shooting day, going 9 for 37 (24.3 percent) from three, as they fell behind early, went on an impressive run to take a double-digit lead, and blew that lead to lose the game.
While Nick Boyd had an efficient 29 points, the rest of the Badgers really struggled from the field. John Blackwell shot 3 of 13, Andrew Rohde shot 2 of 13, Nolan Winter shot 5 of 13, and the rest of the team combined to shoot 3 of 14.
Wisconsin was pretty good defensively, holding USC to 41 percent from the field and 25 percent from three, but they struggled to contain star Chad Baker-Mazara, who had 29 points and five threes.
Now, the Badgers are rematching the Minnesota Gophers, whom they beat 78-75 earlier this month on a John Blackwell buzzer-beater. Minnesota has really struggled since, as they’re currently on a five-game losing streak amid a tough part of their schedule. They’ve lost to USC, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio State, and Nebraska in that stretch.
