Who’s ready for some more meaningless baseball (complimentary)? Well, not meaningless for at least one Mariner: Harry Ford makes his first-ever big league start today. Fingers crossed he can also record his first big league hit, as well.
Lineups:
Josh Naylor and Victor Robles continue to rest. Cal Raleigh slides over to DH, allowing Harry Ford to make his first big-league start, catching [consults notes] ah cool the hardest pitcher on staff to catch. You can do it, Harry.
News:
Prior to tonight’s game, the Mariners reinstated RHP Logan Evans from the IL and optioned RHP Casey Legumina to the ACL Mariners. Read more here.
The Dodgers also made a move, bringing back old frenemy Andrew Heaney:

Today in Mariners History:
- 1983 – Jim Beattie hurled the first one-hitter in Mariners history, as the Mariners beat Kansas City, 4-0, in the Kingdome. U.L. Washington’s 3rd inning single was the only blemish on an otherwise perfect game for Beattie.
- 1992 – Randy Johnson strikes out 18 Texas Rangers in 8 innings, tying the AL mark for strikeouts by a left-hander (Ron Guidry). For his efforts Johnson is only rewarded with a no-decision.
- 1997 – Mariners reach franchise best 90 wins, surpassing previous record of 88 in 1996; Randy Johnson becomes first Mariner pitcher with 20 wins and collects his first career relief victory.
- 2009 – Matt Tuiasosopo hit his first career home run at Toronto. Mariners broadcaster Mike Blowers correctly predicts that the home run will come in his 2nd at-bat, on a fastball in a 3-1 count to left-center field.
- 2021 – Mitch Haniger hits 2 home runs to propel the Mariners to a 13-4 win over the A’s.
- 2023 – J.P. Crawford hits his 6th leadoff home run of the season, matching a franchise record (also: Julio Rodríguez in 2022).
