Pitch preparations are officially underway ahead of the November 15th NFL game between the New England Patriots vs. Detroit Lions at the Allianz Arena. The playing surface is being extended, field goals are being installed, and the end zones are scheduled to be fitted next week.
Wonderful. Just wonderful.
We have spent years enjoying the beautiful, luscious, perfectly manicured grass at the Allianz Arena, and now it is about to endure an NFL game. All those players running around, making tackles, digging
into the turf, and generally treating the playing surface like their own personal construction site.
Somewhere, the Bayern groundskeeping team (led by the one-time blockbuster transfer superstar aka The King of the Turf) is quietly updating its résumé.
The pitch has survived Bundesliga battles, Champions League nights, and countless Bayern Munich celebrations. Now it has to survive American football. Frankly, the grass did not sign up for this.
Hopefully, the grounds crew can work its usual magic and restore everything before Bayern Munich returns home. Because the last thing we need is Harry Kane playing on a surface that looks like somebody hosted a demolition derby on it.
Stay strong, Allianz Arena grass. We are all rooting for you.
