College football is oh-so-close. We can taste it.
Tennessee is in for a very interesting season with a huge unknown at the quarterback position. The Volunteers are being viewed as a sleeper with big upside, and also huge downside. Faizon Brandon continues to track as the starter as a true freshman, and his performance will go a long way in determining the outcome of the 2026 season.
Oddsmakers don’t seem to care all that much, however. In a post from Patrick Everson via X, several future game lines
for Tennessee were revealed. Some may surprise you.
Four Tennessee games were released, arguably Tennessee’s toughest games of the season.
Texas -6.5 at Tennessee
Alabama (pick ‘em) at Tennessee
Tennessee (+7.5) at Texas A&M
LSU (pick ‘em) at Tennessee
Oddsmakers are really putting a lot of stock into Texas, obviously. It’s not a surprise that the Longhorns are favored, but 6.5 points better than both LSU and Alabama at the same location is pretty steep. It’s also notable that LSU and Alabama are essentially being viewed as the same.
Marcel Reed and Texas A&M getting the Volunteers on the road produced more than a touchdown spread, which isn’t all that surprising either. That’s a massive late season test for Tennessee, right ahead of the home game matchup against LSU. Those two weeks could end up determining Tennessee’s postseason hopes.
Tennessee opens the season on September 5th against Furman, then heads to Georgia Tech for their first true test of the season. Tennessee’s regular season win total sits around 7.5 games, according to most books.
