Juventus are about to cast off for their summer tour, the first they’ve done in a few years now. They’ll play Chelsea in Hong Kong on Wednesday, before winging it to Australia for games against league champions Inter (barf) on August 8 and against Serie B outfit Palermo on August 11.
On Sunday the club announced their squad list for the trip. Here’s who will be pulling on their black and white shirts for the week’s friendlies.
Goalkeepers
Michele Di Gregorio, Mattia Perin, Carlo Pinsoglio, Sebastiano Nava
With
no movement on a new keeper in the transfer market, Juve will bring along the same goalkeeping corps that we’ve become familiar with the last two years. Di Gregorio has gotten the start in the first two friendlies of the year, and we should expect that to continue unless something else happens. Nava is an 18-year-old primavera body who has some extensive experience at the junior international level, playing 10 games for the Italian U17s, including as the starter at the U17 Euros in 2025.
Defenders
Zeki Celik, Bremer, Federico Gatti, Lloyd Kelly, Pierre Kalulu, Daniele Rugani, Andrea Cambiaso, Juan Cabal, Javier Gil Puche
Another relatively standard group, although there will certainly be questions. Chief among them is the right-back spot and whether or not Luciano Spalletti will use Pierre Kalulu there or keep him in the center and use Celik there more often. Rugani’s ultimate fate is, as usual, a complete mystery, and there have been rumors about teams making offers for Gatti for a while now. Whether Cabal regains Spalletti’s trust enough to get back into the rotation will also be another question. Gil, 20, was out until October last year before taking up the starter’s spot at center-back for the NextGen and playing 2,295 minutes over 26 total games.
Midfielders
Manuel Locatelli, Teun Koopmeiners, Douglas Luiz, Arthur, Fabio Miretti, Weston McKennie, Augusto Owusu
The absence of Khéphren Thuram, who will be out all of preseason with an injury, has given Douglas Luiz the chance to strike up a redemption tour, and he’s done well so far, including a nice goal against Nice this week. Vasilije Adzic is omitted with an impending transfer to Sassuolo looking to be sealed in the coming days. Owusu has caught the attention of Spalletti after playing 26 games for the NextGen a year ago and might end up getting called up to the first team this season.
Forwards
Francisco Conceição, Randal Kolo Muani, Kenan Yildiz, Edon Zhegrova, Jérémie Boga, Arkadiusz Milik, Jonathan David, Justin Oboavwoduo, Adin Licina, Aaman Durmisi, Kerim Alajbegovic
We’ll get to see Alajbegovich for the first time, and Kolo Muani will be a welcome sight to see at the forward spot. The inclusion of Yildiz is encouraging, given he’s been training separately all summer due to that tricky knee. He’s unlikely to be going on the trip just to sit around. Licina, the latest youngster poached from Bayern Munich’s youth system, will likely be one to watch as well. Oboavwoduo scored Juve’s second goal against Nice last week.
