The Wisconsin Badgers flipped former Houston Cougars safety commit Kah’ni Watts on Thursday, marking their final recruit in the 2026 class for now.
Watts, a native of Houston, had been committed to Houston since June, but the Badgers amped up their efforts to land him recently, needing a safety in their 2026 class. Now, they have one, and Watts has signed with the program.
On National Signing Day, head coach Luke Fickell alluded to Wisconsin looking to take around 14 recruits in its 2026 class. That
group presumably included running back Amari Latimer, who flipped and signed with the West Virginia Mountaineers in a shocking move. So, it seems the Badgers are content with 13 freshmen… for now.
At 6’1, 175 pounds, Watts could fill more of a versatile role with his mentality and athletic ability.
Wisconsin was in dire need of a safety in its 2026 class. Yes, they added several in 2025, but Wisconsin had also missed on a couple of recruitments this summer and fall. Now, they have one, flipping him in the process, and focusing their efforts more on the transfer portal coming up next month.
With Austin Brown and Preston Zachman done, there should be snaps in the safety room next year. We’ll see how that position pans out this offseason.
