If there was ever any doubt about how Harry Kane feels about life at Bayern Munich, the England captain has made his position abundantly clear.
Following the signing of his contract extension, Kane explained just how happy he and his family have become in Munich, emphasizing that remaining at Bayern was an incredibly easy decision.
And it is not just about feeling comfortable. Kane wants to win the biggest trophies, compete for Champions League titles, and continue improving. The Englishman believes
Bayern Munich gives him exactly that opportunity.
“It’s massive for me personally, to be honest. I think you’ve seen from performances, you’ve seen from the way I talk in the mixed zones after, that I’m extremely happy here. I think moving to Munich was a big step for me and my family, and we’ve been so impressed with the connection that we’ve had with not just the people within the club, but also the fans, everyone around, outside, in Munich as well. I’m extremely happy, but as always, I want to be competing for the best trophies, the biggest trophies, I want to be playing for a team that’s challenging for the top honors. And that’s exactly where I feel I am right now. We have an amazing team, great coach, great staff, everyone pushing in the right direction. So for me, there was not much thought into it. I know I’m at the best place possible right now, and hopefully I can show that on the pitch as well,” Kane said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Kane also revealed that the decision had effectively been made long before the paperwork was completed.
“We signed the contract yesterday, but to be honest, the decision was pretty much made quite a long time ago. We didn’t want to talk too much during the World Cup. We wanted to focus on that, but from when we come back and started discussions with everyone here, I knew I was going to sign. I know I’m in a great team. I know we’re going to be challenging for Champions Leagues. We’re going to be challenging for titles. Last year proved that more than anything. And it’s important for me to be in a place where I feel like I can keep improving. There’s no doubt this is the best place for me. So it was an easy decision,” said Kane.
There is plenty to like about that statement from a Bayern Munich perspective. Kane is not simply staying because he enjoys living in Munich or because he has found a comfortable home. He believes in the project, the coaching staff, the squad, and the club’s ability to compete for the biggest prizes.
FC Bayern got one of the world’s best strikers when they signed Kane. Now, they have secured his commitment to the club’s future.
And judging by these comments, he is nowhere near finished chasing trophies in Munich.
