The Golden State Warriors are, finally, at long last, ending their brutal six-game road trip. But it’s not an easy end: after losing to the Orlando Magic on Tuesday night, the Dubs are back in action for
yet another back-to-back, as they visit the Miami Heat and old friend Andrew Wiggins in South Beach.
With a win, the Warriors will head home with a winning record on the road trip, which would be mighty impressive. But it will take a strong showing to accomplish that, as the Dubs are without their best player tonight, and possibly a lot moe. Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Out — Steph Curry (right ankle soreness)
Cameras didn’t pick it up, but Curry aggravated his ankle during Tuesday’s loss. It became pretty clear listening to his post-game comments that he wouldn’t be lacing up his sneakers tonight.
Out — Jonathan Kuminga (bilateral knee patellar tendonitis)
Steve Kerr had hoped that Kuminga might be able to return for this game, but it won’t happen. There’s still a decent chance he’s on the court when the Dubs return home on Friday, though.
Out — Al Horford (left toe injury management)
You know the drill by now: Horford doesn’t play back-to-backs. He suited up Tuesday, so he was never going to play on Wednesday.
Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL surgery)
Kerr threw a little cold water on the speediness of Melton’s return earlier this week. It will probably still come sometime in December, but maybe more mid-month than early on.
Questionable — Jimmy Butler III (right low back strain)
We know that Butler would love to play in Miami after his ugly divorce from the organization earlier this year. But, reading between the lines of his post-game presser on Tuesday, it sure didn’t seem likely.
Questionable — Draymond Green (illness)
‘tis the season. Get your flu shots, everyone!
Questionable — Buddy Hield (illness)
What did I just say???
Heat
Out — Terry Rozier (not with team)
If you haven’t been following the NBA this year, Rozier was arrested for his role in a mafia-driven illegal sports betting ring, which featured him selling info to bettors and then faking injuries to get out of games. My guess is we’ve seen him shoot his last hoop.
Out — Tyler Herro (left ankle surgery)
Herro, who was a first-time All-Star last year and is the team’s go-to scorer with Butler gone, has yet to play this season. He’s ahead of schedule, but still a ways away from a return.
Questionable — Bam Adebayo (left big toe sprain)
If Adebayo doesn’t play, then both teams will be missing their best players, and it could be anyone’s game. If he does play, well … the Warriors will be fighting a seriously uphill battle.
Questionable — Nikola Jović (right hip impingement)
What a difference a letter makes, right??
Enjoy the game, Dub Nation. You can catch the action on NBC Sports Bay Area at 4:30 p.m. PT.
