A man who knows a thing or two about accolades has an encouraging outlook for the Seattle Seahawks’ newest rookie running back.
Shaun Alexander is the franchise record-holder in many rushing categories, as well as the only MVP in Seahawks history. He’s seen great heights in his career leading the Seahawks rushing attack, and recently discussed with Kay Adams the bright future he sees for 2026 first-round pick, Jadarian Price.
It’s also interesting that Mr. Touchdown himself sees Jeremiyah Love’s talent but doesn’t necessarily believe in the Arizona Cardinals offense enough to see him elevating to that level of efficiency. Shades of what happened to Ashton Jeanty last year?
When Kay Adams mentioned how Price wasn’t the RB1 in college, but “he was kind of, right? He’s got that,” Alexander responded with a confident, “For sure.” What makes him so assured that Price will fit as a threat in the Hawks offense?
Alexander explained that Price “ran that stretch run at Notre Dame really, really well.” The stretch run play is a staple of an outside zone run game, a scheme which the Seahawks have prioritized, majored in and reinforced with the hiring of Brian Fleury as offensive coordinator.
Alexander proclaimed that, “I think that this offensive system is going to be really great for him.” That’s an exciting concept to think about, especially as Seattle is not bereft of talent elsewhere in the backfield.
Near the end of the clip, Shaun Alexander added: “It all depends on how [Zach Charbonnet] comes back, too; because he’s going to come back, and that takes carries away. If [Price] comes out blazing at the beginning of the year, he’ll be [RB]1 for sure.”
Earlier in the interview, the legendary No. 37 estimated his expectation of having around 40 grandkids in the future (his 13 children give him a shot at this). Time will tell on both of Alexander’s predictions, but fans will likely be more emotionally invested in if Jadarian Price is the only rookie back to break the 1,000-yard rushing barrier this year.
