21-year-old lightweight champion Abdullah Mason earned his stripes with a decision win over Sam Noakes last month to take the vacant WBO belt, and speaking to Sky Sports he says he expects this to be just the beginning for him.
“I feel like I’m one of the great fighters in my division, and I’m going to keep proving to be one of the best fighters in my division,” Mason told Sky Sports. “This is a door opener to a lot more greatness. So now we’re just going to stay focused and keep improving.”
With Mason
going the distance in his first full 12-round fight he finds a silver lining knowing that despite the fact he wasn’t able to stop Noakes, he was able to prove the has both the skill and conditioning to work himself through a long and tough night’s work.
Mason still has a full career ahead of him and while he’s already showcased his talent in becoming a world titleholder at such a young age, he believes he still has many more accomplishments to come as he looks forward to reigning for years to come.
