The Miami Dolphins are set to host the New York Giants this week, having the visitors join them for a joint practice on Thursday before meeting in Preseason Week 2 on Saturday. The Giants made a major roster move on Tuesday, adding former Pro Bowl running back Najee Harris to their roster on a one-year deal. The signing had been rumored over the last few days, but became official on Tuesday. ESPN and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo reported the move.
Harris spent 2025 with the Los Angeles
Chargers, rushing 15 times in three games for 61 yards before an Achilles tear ended his year. He spent the first four years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being selected 24th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, coming out of Alabama.
Harris will presumably have minimal impact on the Giants plans for the joint practice or in the preseason game this weekend. Head coach John Harbaugh explained of Harris’ recovery timeline, “He’s not back 100 percent. He’s not in football shape yet. It’ll be a process.”
The Giants’ running back group includes Cam Skattebo, Tyrone Tracy, and Devin Singletary along with Harris. Harris likely slides in as a rotational option, at least early in the season, with Skattebo and Tracy.
