Good morning, baseball fans!
Today’s playoff game will be Game 3 of the American League Championship Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Seattle Mariners. The game will start at 5:08 p.m. PT, airing
on Fox Sports 1, with national radio coverage available on ESPN Radio.
It seems as though the Blue Jays’ time off after the division series might have put a damper on their momentum, as the Mariners enter tonight’s game with a 2-0 series lead. This is extra unfortunate for the Blue Jays, as the series moves to Seattle tonight.
Expected to take the mound for the Blue Jays will be right-hander Shane Bieber, making his second start of the postseason thus far. Bieber ended the regular season with a 3.57 ERA, 4.47 FIP, with 37 strikeouts to seven walks in 40.1 innings pitched. His last playoff start was in the Blue Jays’ 9-6 loss to the New York Yankees last Tuesday, in which he allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with two strikeouts and a walk in two and two thirds innings.
He’ll likely be facing off against Mariners right-hander George Kirby, who finished the regular season with a 4.21 ERA, 3.37 FIP, with 137 strikeouts to 29 walks in 126 innings pitched. This will be his third playoff start this season, his last was in the Mariners’ 3-2 win over the Detroit Tigers on Friday, in which he allowed one run on three hits with six strikeouts in five innings.
