Charles Scott Jr. became the first to commit to the Crimson Tide for the class of 2028. A rising junior, he is already 6-5 and 255 lbs. He plays for his father, Charles Scott Sr., at Huguenot High School in Richmond, VA.
To give you an idea to the size of this kid, below are pictures of him with a teammate who is said to be 6-2. Some compare his frame to that of former NFL quarterback Byron Leftwich who had similar measurements.
Erik Evans did rundown on the move to larger offenses that is worth your time. With his size, Scott definitely fits into that mold in size and style of play. The Kalen DeBoer staff has been going after big signal callers. Austin Mack, who started with DeBoer in Washington, towers at 6-6/232. Keelon Russell is tall at 6-3 but weighs 201. However, his approach to the game is copacetic. Incoming freshmen Jett Thomalla (6-4/229) and Tayden Kaawa (6-5/238) have big frames. 2027 Elijah Haven (6-5/215) fits that bill as well. Even preferred walk-on John Gazzaniga (6-7/245) looks like a linebacker. 2027 Trent Seaborn (6-1/200) seems to be the one outlier.
As a sophomore, Scott Jr. completed 178 of 285 passes (62.7%) for 3,594 yards and 41 touchdowns with just four interceptions. He also added 22 carries for 115 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground. His 2025 season included 12 games with 200+ yards through the air, four with 300+ and one with 400+. Scott had one game in which he tallied seven touchdowns.

BamaOnLine spoke to his coach/dad Charles Scott Sr.: “Obviously he’s a good football player, but there’s room for growth. They (Alabama staff) talked about that, how they would develop him. He wants to be a pro, and they talk about pro development, too. It’s a system fit. They take shots, they need a big, strong quarterback that can stand in the pocket. They have big linemen, where a 5-10 quarterback can’t play at Alabama, they can’t see over the big line. He fits what they’re looking for, and they fit what we’re looking for. It’s a great, great fit, as far as a system fit and a development fit.”
Scott Jr. is currently rated as a 3-star prospect in the 2028 class according to the Rivals and 247sports. For the record, Keelon Russell was a 3-star and 371st ranked player coming into this senior high school season. Scott still has two season of prep ball to go. He had early offers from many schools including Georgia, Florida State, Syracuse, Maryland, Colorado and Mississippi State.
Huguenot head coach Charles Scott Sr. took over a program that went 1-9 in 2022 and turned them into double-digit winning playoff team. The last two seasons, the Falcons lost in the state finals.
