UFC 327 went down last night (Sat., April 11, 2026) inside Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla., which saw Carlos Ulberg become the new Light Heavyweight champion of the world by securing an impressive first-round knockout win over Jiri Prochazka after suffering an injury early in the fight (see it again here). In the co-main event, Paulo Costa defeated Azamat Murzakanov via third-round knockout (details here).
Biggest Winner: Carlos Ulberg
If you want to see what the heart of a champion looks like, you have
to look no further than Carlos Ulberg. “Black Jag” was in a ton of trouble after suffering a devastating knee injury early into his first-ever title fight against an experienced veteran in Prochazka. But instead of feeling sorry for himself and calling it a day, he took the pain, remained calm and ultimately delivered an amazing finish to become the new king at 205 pounds. That is now 10 straight wins inside the Octagon for “Black Jag,” though now we have to wait and see just how serious his injury is, and if it will force him to start his title reign on the bench for an extended period of time. For now, he will enjoy his big win and his new title.
Runner Up: Josh Hokit
Hokit was rubbing a lot of people the wrong way going into his big fight against Curtis Blaydes due to his unusual method of trash talk during fight week. But despite the fact that his work on the mic was cringe-worthy to say the least, he once again proved himself inside the cage by putting on a wild, winning performance against “Razor.” He came out aggressive in round one, pieced up the big man and beat his face to a pulp early. He then found himself in trouble in the same frame but found a way to survive, and then eventually went on to win a unanimous decision win in what was one of the most entertaining fights of the year (video replay here). To sweeten the pot, Hokit was booked to face Derrick Lewis at Freedom 250 at the White House this summer, as a result. He also took home a cool $200,000 in post-fight bonus money for good measure, so to say it was a good night for the “Incredible Hok” would be an understatement.
Honorable Mention: Paulo Costa
Costa looked like the Paulo of old in his performance against Murzakanov, locking down his first knockout in eight years thanks to his powerful head kicks. And he showed he can face adversity early in the fight and turn the tides, as well. Costa looked fresh, powerful and most of all, dangerous. The only issue is we have to wait and see if he will stick around at 205 pounds or go back to Middleweight. I’d like to see him give Light Heavyweight an extended run, especially now that there is a new king in the division.
Biggest Loser: Jiri Prochazka
Prochazka seemed to have a clear path to victory to reclaim the 205-pound title after Ulberg suffered an injury in the first round, but in the blink of an eye it was taken away from him. Indeed, once Prochazka realized Ulberg was fighting on one leg, he starting going to work on the other with his kicks. But all it took was one lapse in judgement that allowed Ulberg to connect on a hook that sent “Denisa” crashing to the canvas, which signaled the beginning of the end for the former champion. That is now three times in as many years that Prochazka has come up short in title fights, which means locking down a fourth one will be hard to come by. And something tells me this one will be a bit harder to swallow for Prochazka, especially after admitting he felt sorry for his foe and showed mercy for Ulberg due to his injury. While one can appreciate compassion, in the middle of a fight that’s just not something you see everyday, especially when a title and big money is on the line.
