Marcus Rashford vowed to keep on scoring after opening his account for Barcelona against Newcastle in the Champions League.
The Manchester United loanee broke the deadlock with a header and then smashed a brilliant effort past Nick Pope to make it 2-0 at St James’ Park.
Here’s what he had to say after the match:
“I only saw the second goal on TV, and it was a great game. It was a tough stadium, but we played a very good game,” he told Movistar.
“With a header, I attack the space in their defense a little
earlier and focus on making contact with the ball and putting it down. Heading is more difficult for me.
“The truth is, I’m going to try to keep scoring more. With the second, the technique is good, but I’ve worked on this all my life, and this is more about confidence and daring to get close to the goal.
“It’s difficult to be a starter because we have a team with top players. Coming to a new city, a new culture… I feel more and more comfortable. I’m enjoying it. As the season progresses, I think I’ll play better.”
Rashford now has two goals and assist in his last two games for Barcelona and will hope to maintain that form as he settles into life with Hansi Flick’s side.
