The Las Vegas Raiders’ offseason has had exciting moments so far, with the hiring of Klint Kubiak and having the number one pick in the draft. However, on Friday night, Raider Nation felt somber with the announcement that star edge rusher Maxx Crosby had been traded to the Baltimore Ravens.
Crosby was beloved by Silver and Black fans who wore his jersey with pride on Sundays. He gave the team his all, rarely missing snaps and accumulating 53 sacks in that time period. On Saturday, Crosby made a video
to let fans know how he felt about leaving the team and what was next for him.
“I felt like I left everything I had on the table for this team,” Crosby said in a 13-minute video, which he published on his social media accounts. “I’ve given my heart and soul. I feel like I let y’all down. Ever since Day 1, I wanted to create and build a winner with the Raiders.”
He also thanked owner Mark Davis, minority owner Tom Brady, and the rest of the Raiders’ ownership group.
“I want [the Raiders] to have all the success in the world,” Crosby said. “… My intentions were pure from the beginning. I know many people have had questions and concerns, especially over the past couple of weeks and months. I’ve decided to be quiet because there’s so much noise, and ultimately, I’m a football player.”
Now, John Spytek has a chance to rebuild this roster into a winner with plenty of draft picks to work with. Having seven picks in the first four rounds of the draft should give him the ammunition needed to build a foundation for the future. Unfortuntely it will be on the back of losing their best player in the process.
