The Portland Thorns have announced the signing of midfielder Nina Nijstad through 2029. The Dutch international comes from PSV Eindhoven Vrouwen for an undisclosed fee pending her P-1 visa and international transfer clearance.
“Nina has a strong ability to contribute effectively on both sides of the ball and has shown high impact potential as she continues breaking into the Netherlands senior national team. We are happy that she chose Portland as the next place to continue her career and we look forward
to welcoming her into our environment,” President and General Manager of Soccer Operations Jeff Agoos said.
After spending three seasons with the Dutch club, she helped them to win their first-ever domestic league and become back-to-back champions in the 2025/26 campaign. Added to that, the midfielder has participated in the UEFA Champions League Qualifying and the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup.
In her three seasons with PSV she netted 14 goals and assisted 17, while with her national team, she made her senior debut in October 2024, when the Netherlands scored a record-breaking of 15 goals against Indonesia. Ever since, Nijstad has tallied twice in four matches.
