Julian Alvarez’s name is making headlines once again in Spain as the Atletico Madrid star’s future remains unresolved amid heavy interest from Barcelona.
Club president Joan Laporta has confirmed Barcelona have made a bid but says it won’t last forever. According to journalist Alfredo Martinez, Barca’s €100 million offer expires at the end of July and Barcelona don’t really want to improve it.
Barcelona believe it’s a very good offer but could make some minor amendments to it in a bid to get the deal
done after the World Cup. Mundo Deportivo say that Barca “do not want to exceed a fixed fee of one hundred million, but could include variables and a player in the deal.”
And the club are also working on an alternative in case Alvarez doesn’t arrive at all. MD say that Deco is currently working on a “high-caliber option.” The player in question is not named but is said to be “an exciting prospect who could be a good replacement for Robert Lewandowski.”
The rumor mill has already churned out plenty of alternative names already, such as Eli Kroupi Junior, Mikel Oyarzabal, Alexander Sorloth and so on.
However, after a summer where unexpected moves have been made for Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, it could be that Deco has another surprise up his sleeve.
