According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich right-back Sacha Boey rejected an offer from Olympique Lyon — along with proposals from several other clubs in the Premier League.
Say what?
Boey seems incredulous to the fact that he has little-to-no hope of actually getting significant playing time in Bavaria. In fact, he might actually be welcoming the chance to get paid to work out and watch gamed (Author’s Note: Admittedly,
that sounds like an awesome job). Yes, Bayern Munich fans, Boey is going #FullBounaSarr:
Sacha Boey has rejected an offer from Olympique Lyon. The Frenchman has also rebuffed inquiries from the Premier League. Bayern were not amused because they would have liked to sell Boey this month. Boey earns around €3m fixed per year at Bayern and is happy to stay despite his limited role.
Moreover, Boey appears to have irritated his agents (well, now former agents) as well (per @iMiaSanMia_GER):
Boey has changed his management for this, he is now with Moussa Sissoko, the agent of Dayot Upamecano. His old management CAA Stellar was also somewhat annoyed with Boey.
Capology reports that Boey’s total financial package actually is higher at €5,900,000 (€4,720,000 salary + €1,180,000 bonus), which makes this an even more swift kick in the junk for the Bavarians to absorb.
Bayern Munich has made dozens of astute pickups near the transfer deadline over the years, but when the Bavarians see a French right-back available in the waning hours of a transfer window, they just can’t help themselves and enter into “Charlie Brown Football Mode”:
Boey, who has not really had a significant performance since joining Bayern Munich in 2024, is now Bouna Sarr 2.0…it happened again!

Song of the Week: “Ring of Fire” by Social Distortion
We have talked about great cover songs many times here and, as it turns out, I was in the mood for a good cover this week, so I leaned over to the 90s for Social Distortion’s “Ring of Fire.”
Released in 1990, it is vintage Social D. Enjoy:
For good measure, here is Johnny Cash’s legendary original:
This is really not related to anything about, but it was a cool little clip of Ozzy Osbourne that I thought some of you out there might enjoy:
Entertainment Rundown
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms — Season 1, Episode 2
Let’s dig into it:
- This episode was much more fluid and better than the premiere. However, the writers and showrunners really do need to stop it with the unnecessary attempts to get interest. In the first episode, it was projecting pooping and in the second episode, viewers were “treated” to dangling prosthetic dong for absolutely no reason. Again, I like childish humor or even edgy humor as much as the next person, but these just seemed like weak attempts to shock the viewer. Just let the story do the talking because this episode was actually good.
- We got our first look at the jousting, which was cool and the relationship between Dunk and Egg is definitely rounding into form with some good banter.
- The plot is still a bit slow as the show seems to suffer from some of what has felled House of the Dragon. That said, it was entertaining enough to keep the viewer’s interest.
- The interaction with the Targaryens was actually a pretty fascinating scene and gave the show some much needed depth.
- Overall, this episode represented progress from both a storyline and a show standpoint. It is too early to say if this can evolve into being great, but it took a nice, little step forward — and we’ll take it.

If you were wondering what the overall plan for this series is, well, let’s just say that the showrunner is being a wee bit ambitious:
The Smashing Machine
I actually had no intention on reviewing this, but since it had been so acclaimed (Oscar consideration for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson?), I figured I should check it out when I came across it on HBO. I had heard great things about the 2002 documentary, but had never seen it (I really wish I had before I saw the movie).
As someone who was an MMA fan in this period, I knew of Mark Kerr and the main fighters in the story., but i have to say…the movie was bad.
Really bad.
I understand what they were going for, but I found the actual, real fighters who appeared in the film like Bas Rutten and Ryan Bader (who played Mark Coleman) to be better in the film than The Rock. At times, Bader was a little stiff, but he’s not really an actor, so that was to be expected. The Rock, however, was not good in this role.
To be honest, I don’t know what else I was expecting. The way the movie was presented, it really did not give any kind of proper ending. It seemed like it was going for the same vibes as The Iron Claw, but it was just missing something — and it is hard to pinpoint exactly what that was.
At times, it was hard to figure out if you should even care about the characters. Was I supposed to feel bad for them? Emily Blunt’s character (Dawn Staples) was…the worst. Just an awful character/person.
The funny thing is, I’m not even writing this to be a jerk, but I just didn’t get it…any of it…and I was a fan of this era of MMA. It just was not interesting. I didn’t feel like I learned anything or that I got some unique insight.
Maybe I am just more fickle now or maybe I just am more cognizant of how I spend my time, but this movie just did not hit for me. I’d love to hear what any of you, who saw it.

Yes, the title is exactly what you think it means, but the cast on this HBO limited series looks awesome (Jason Bateman, David Harbour), so I will likely put it on my watch list. How about you? Here is the trailer:

Bayern Munich will be looking to build off of its performance against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, while also attempting to bounce-back in the Bundesliga after a disappointing 2-1 loss to FC Augsburg last weekend.
Being head-and-shoulder above your opponent does not always guarantee a win (see last weekend), but the Bavarians are just too strong for Hamburger SV.
Prediction: Hamburger SV 0-5 Bayern Munich
