All smiles in Dortmund. A late strike from Maxi Beier brought BVB three points in the league, something that has eluded the team since the international break. I have to be clear with you, readers, I was not able to watch the game yesterday, I went to the renaissance fair. It was a good time, I had a turkey leg. It seems that potentially no one from our team caught yesterday’s game (something we should have maybe coordinated), presumably because everyone was at the renaissance fair. But! I would
not want to leave you readers without a chance to vote for the Man of the Match, so I shall do my best.
Here are the candidates for Man of the Match on Matchday 7.
Joey Veerman
A statistics day for Veerman. Four chances created was the most in the team, and 65 passes completed meant Veerman had the midfield ticking over 90 minutes.
Maxi Beier
Goal scored, game won. Beier is in imperfect form, but when chances come off the bench, you must take them. Beier was clinical, and should get a big confidence boost from being a match-winner.
Gregor Kobel
Dortmund’s chief shot-stopper faced several good efforts, especially from Farés Chaïbi operating down Frankfurt’s left flank. It was only three total saves for Kobel, but they were important!
Ramy Bensebaini
Choosing between defenders here, I am going to go with Bensebaini because of his last-ditch tackle to prevent what would have been a certain goal for Frankurt from Nnamdi Collins. Bensebaini made several other important challenges over the course of the match, but this one, in the box, was game-altering.
