It was announced that the Seattle Seahawks are working out two-time Pro Bowl running back, Joe Mixon, according to FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer.
Seattle working out a running back is not too surprising considering the injuries that have spread across that position room. Jadarian Price was just placed on injured reserve, Zach Charbonnet is still making his way back from the PUP list, and even George Holani was limited in practice this past week with a rib injury. The room currently consists of Emanuel Wilson,
Holani, and Velus Jones Jr., who was just signed to the 53-man roster.
However, what is surprising is that it is Joe Mixon who’s getting a look. Mixon spent his first seven NFL seasons (2017-2023) with the Cincinnati Bengals before joining the Houston Texans in 2024 and 2025. When healthy, Mixon has been a very productive running back, having run for over 1,000 yards five times in the last nine seasons.
More recently, Mixon missed the entire 2025 season with a foot injury. This injury was so bad that at one point Mixon told former teammates that “his career is over.” However, Mixon never filed his retirement paperwork, and is seemingly healthy now and could be an option for the Seahawks as RB depth.
