Ronald Araujo is having to be patient at Barcelona this season despite the departure of Inigo Martinez in the summer transfer window.
The Uruguay international has only started half of Barcelona’s La Liga
games in 2025-26 and just once in the Champions League.
More recently, he’s started the last three games on the bench as Hansi Flick has preferred Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia as his central defensive pairing.
Araujo is said to have accepted his reduced role but is eager for more minutes as the season progresses, according to Diario Sport.
“He has conveyed to the coach and the club that he is there to help in everything that is necessary. Playing as a centre-back, striker or goalkeeper,” is the message from Araujo’s camp at his current situation.
“He feels strong to play more and have more minutes. The feeling he has, always respecting Flick’s decisions, is that he can contribute much more to the team.”
The report adds that Araujo is “expecting” more prominence in the coming weeks as Flick’s side aim to get back to winning ways.
