Lamine Yamal was on target for Spain during Saturday’s 3-2 win over England
and spoke to the media after the match about the victory.The Barcelona teenager spoke about his opening goal and says Luis de la Fuente urges him to press high to try and win the ball up the pitch.
“That’s what we try to do (always win). There’s always someone who loses, but we try not to be the ones who lose. We know Wembley is very difficult,” he told Teledeporte.
“The manager really pushes us to press high, to believe we’re
going to win the ball, and that’s what I’ve done. I always try to help the team. Sometimes I lose focus, but sometimes I steal the ball and find myself one-on-one and I’m able to score.
“It doesn’t bother us if the other team has the ball because we are very fast players and we know how to play on the counter-attack. You have to know what your role is in each match and we know how to do that.”
Spain now head to Croatia for a Nations League game against Croatia in Tuesday at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in Seville.
