At one point, Paul Wanner was the shiniest gem in the Bayern Munich academy — but that luster has dimmed a bit over the past two years.
As such, Wanner was sold during the summer transfer window, with Bayern Munich holding a buyback clause on the youngster. For now, though, Wanner is focused on becoming the best player he can be for PSV Eindhoven.
“PSV were already interested two years ago, but I opted for a year in the second Bundesliga. Now it was the right time to go to the Netherlands. Everything
fits — the style of football, the people. It feels like a club that also values family,” Wanner told Eindhovens Dagblad (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “I’ve talked about that a lot with Malik (Tillman), whom I consider a friend. He’s had nothing but praise for me. About the football, the peace in Eindhoven, and the way he was able and allowed to develop as a player and a person. And about the coach, whom he holds in high regard. PSV are competing for trophies and playing in the Champions League. That’s quite something.”
So far, Wanner has played in two of three games for PSV Eindhoven, but has only totaled 11 minutes. The youngster moved to the Netherlands to rediscover his game…hopefully he can do that soon.
Bayern Munich is entering a rugged part of its schedule and the bizz surrounding the team should spike in the coming days. Let’s talk about where everything stands after a great weekend in the Bundesliga and ahead of key match against Chelsea in the Champions League:
- It was a good weekend for Bayern Munich as the Bavarians dominated Hamburger SV. What good can we take out of that ahead of a very important showdown against Chelsea in the Champions League.
- Thomas Müller dropped a hat trick on the Philadelphia Union…on his birthday. Let’s discuss…
- Should fans be concerned about all of the noise surrounding Michael Olise? With Liverpool and Manchester City (plus maybe Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona, too) all reportedly interested, things look a little dicey.
