Well folks, for worse and most certainly for better, the season is almost over. It’s time for the penultimate game of the 2026 campaign for the San Francisco Giants, who host the playoff-bound Los Angeles Dodgers.
For San Francisco, lefty Matt Wilkinson makes the final appearance of his debut season. The 23-year old nicknamed “Tugboat” has made seven appearances and five starts this year, and is 1-3 with a 3.65 ERA, a 4.24 FIP, and 18 strikeouts to four walks in 24.2 innings. Tugboat was excellent
his last time out, tossing five shutout innings against this same Dodgers team.
For LA, it’s former Giant Blake Snell. The two-time Cy Young Award-winning lefty has made just eight starts in his second season with the Dodgers, and is 4-1 with a 1.86 ERA, a 1.73 FIP, and 52 strikeouts against 16 walks in 38.2 innings. Snell made one start early in the year, then missed a few months; since returning, he’s yet to give up multiple runs in a game.
Enjoy the baseball, everyone. You’ll miss it when it’s gone, as hard as that is to believe.
