Bayern hosted Hamburger SV for the first time in 13 years in the Frauen-Bundesliga. HSV was promoted to the top division this season, but has struggled in this campaign — with only one win twelve matches so far.
It took Bayern more than a quarter hour to get on the scoresheet, but Germany captain Giulia Qwinn opened the scoring with a beautiful goal. In the 28th minute, Bayern captain Georgia Stanway earned a penalty and stepped up to take it herself. She burried it to make it 2-0. Shortly before
halftime, Klara Bühl ran onto a rebounded ball in the box and slotted it low and strong into the back of the net. Bayern was cruising at halftime, up 3-0.
They did not wait too long to get back to scoring after the break. In the 48th minute, Gwinn played a ball into the box, looking for Pernille Harder, but a HSV defender headed it into the back of the net. The own goal put the hosts up 4-0. Harder would have to wait until the 64th minute, but she finally got her goal to make it 5-0. The final goal came in the 86th minute, when Lea Schüller fired home beautiful header after a Bayern freekick to make it 6-0.
Bayern had five different goal scorers — plus the own goal in their dominate perforamance. They remain at the top of the table with 37 points — six points ahead of second place Wolfsberg. They will host Norwegian side Valerenga in the Champions League play before finishing the calendar year with a trip to Leverkusen for a league match. In March Hamburg will host Bayern in the next round of the DFB-Pokal Frauen.
