Another serious and potentially life-changing injury has taken place in the sport as it’s just been reported that British fighter Raven Chapman has suffered a brain bleed during a recent sparring session in Denmark which caused her to collapse, and ultimately required immediate emergency surgery, as reported by ESPN.
The 32-year-old Chapman, who previously contended for a WBC title, has been placed in a medically induced coma in an attempt to quell the bleeding and reduce the swelling in her brain.
A statement released by her management company Vote Boxing shared some words on her current condition.
“Over the past day, she has been taken off the sedatives and is continuing to receive treatment while awaiting medically supervised repatriation to a hospital in the UK, where her rehabilitation is expected to take some time. Her doctors are doing everything they can to support her recovery, and we remain hopeful as she continues to fight through this incredibly difficult time.”
A GoFundMe page has been started for Chapman in an attempt to aid with her ongoing medical expenses, and all of us here at BLH certainly wish her a full and speedy recovery.
