We’re in the swing of things now. Two weeks are in the books, and once again, parity runs rampant in the NFL. It seems there is the cream of the crop in the top few teams; then there are the clear bottom feeders—and in the middle lies a bunch of teams that could win or lose on any given Sunday.
This week’s talking points will be the quarterback injuries that wreaked havoc across the league. Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Jaxson Dart were all forced out of their games. It remains to be seen how
long each player will miss this season. For now, each team dropped in our power rankings.
Injuries to the quarterback don’t spell disaster, however, as the Seahawks remain at the top of the league with Drew Lock under center, while the Vikings crash into the top of the rankings under the strong play of quarterback Carson Wentz.
Let’s see how the rankings shook out this week from the crew.
Biggest riser: Las Vegas Raiders +9
Biggest faller: Houston Texans -12
This week, along with myself, staff voters were: Maurice Elston, Caleb James, Ron Kopp Jr., Rocky Magana and Jared Sapp.
1. Seattle Seahawks (1st)
Jaxson Smith-Njigba is the only Seahawk to score a touchdown this season. Four so far. And so far, so good.
2. Buffalo Bills (3rd)
Yikes, that Bills’ defense. But when you have Josh Allen in September, it doesn’t matter.
3. San Francisco 49ers (4th)
Even back on American soil, the 49ers were dominant.
4. Kansas City Chiefs (5th)
Inexplicable special-teams blunders, Mahomes’ dimes, Kelce finding an open hole against zone defense, Depression-era play calls, and a weird game against the Colts. We’re so back.
5. Cincinnati Bengals (6th)
The Burrow-Chase connection was renewed. And the Bengals defense looked stout against an offense that shredded the Bills the week prior. It looks like the Bengals are back in the AFC mix.
6. Philadelphia Eagles (9th)
Say what you want, but all Jalen Hurts does is win football games.
7. Baltimore Ravens (2nd)
It was John Harbaugh before. Who’s the scapegoat for a fourth-quarter collapse now?
8. Los Angeles Rams (11th)
Now that is the Rams team we expected to see.
9. Minnesota Vikings (16th)
KOC, head coach Kevin O’Connell, is putting on a coaching masterclass in Minnesota to start the year.
10. Chicago Bears (8th)
You would have to take me off an NFL field in a wheelchair or ambulance if I attempted to play. But these Caleb Williams memes are hilarious.
11. Jacksonville Jaguars (10th)
The Jaguars couldn’t complete the win in Denver on Sunday. But Trevor Lawrence is a different player this year.
12. New England Patriots (14th)
Dominating win against the Steelers…but is anyone overly impressed?
13. Denver Broncos (12th)
It took almost seven quarters, but the Broncos’ offense made their 2026 season debut.
14. Detroit Lions (13th)
This team has completely lost the toughness and grit promised by head coach Dan Campbell.
15. Green Bay Packers (17th)
Everything for the Packers just seems like a struggle right now.
16. Dallas Cowboys (19th)
Quarterback Dak Prescott now owns every passing record in Cowboys’ franchise history. But he’s tied for fewest Super Bowl wins.
17. New Orleans Saints (23rd)
“Poor man’s Josh Allen” Tyler Shough currently leads the NFL in passing yards.
18. Las Vegas Raiders (27th)
Kirk Cousins’ good boy persona just doesn’t fit the vibe of the Raiders…yet, he’s turned back the clock and is balling out to start the season.
19. Houston Texans (7th)
With Nico Collins on the sideline, the Texans’ offense had no juice. Lucky for them, they play in the AFC South.
20. Carolina Panthers (26th)
Okay, Bryce Young…I’m starting to take notice.
21. New York Giants (15th)
A hopeful start to the season took a big blow, depending on the severity of Dart’s injury.
22. Indianapolis Colts (24th)
Is it the right move to actually go for it on 4th and 8 in overtime rather than giving Patrick Mahomes the ball again?
23. Pittsburgh Steelers (18th)
The Steelers benefitted from playing the Falcons in Week 1… this is not a good football team.
24. Arizona Cardinals (22nd)
I was convinced wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. would be an All-Pro from the beginning of his career. Right now, he looks like an all-time bust.
25. Los Angeles Chargers (20th)
Their AFC West offseason crown was even shorter-lived than usual. How long will the national media make excuses for Justin Herbert?
26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (21st)
Baker has taken a two-week vacation since he got paid.
27. New York Jets (29th)
Same old Jets. A 10-point blown lead in the 4th quarter. (And still no interceptions).
28. Washington Commanders (25th)
Tom Brady said what we were all thinking on the broadcast.
29. Cleveland Browns (32nd)
The Browns are the Browns. Or so we thought?
30. Tennessee Titans (31st)
They were cooling off cleats with water bottles in Nashville on Sunday. The heat got to the Titans as their first win remains elusive.
31. Atlanta Falcons (28th)
This team is going nowhere fast. Worth a call to see if Drake London is available?
32. Miami Dolphins (30th)
Ryan Fitzpatrick said his former team could realistically go 0-17. It’s hard to believe that’s possible—but they look like a team tanking.
