The time slot for the next Rutgers football game has been announced as the Scarlet Knights are slated to play Maryland at 12:30 p.m. ET on October 17, following the teams by week this week. The game will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network. The Terrapins have already announced that this game will be their homecoming game.
This game is seen as one of the few realistic opportunities for either team to get a win in the Big Ten this season, as both teams have gotten off to ugly starts over the first
five games, with Rutgers sitting at 1-4 and Maryland sitting at 2-3. While Rutgers is on a bye this week, the Terrapins are slated to take a trip up to Columbus to play Ohio State, which will likely equal another blowout loss for Maryland.
Both teams currently have coaches who are on the hot seat, as they have failed to turn their programs into consistent winners despite their longer tenures. Maryland head coach Mike Locksley is currently sitting at 39-51 in his career at Maryland, while Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano is 32-45 during his second stint at Rutgers. The Knights’ one win so far this season came against Howard, while Maryland’s two wins have come against Hampton and UConn.
