We’ve been waiting for Charlie — who we knew across her two stints with WWE as Dakota Kai — to wrestle again since her second run at the ‘E ended when she was released last May.
It finally happened when the 37-year-old from New Zealand got a shot at the secondary title for independent women’s promotion EVE at their Wrestle Queendom 8 event yesterday (March 8) in London. Former AEW Women’s World champ Kris Statlander is the reigning EVE International champion, and Charlie gave her a fight.
It took three Stat piledrivers to put away the two-time NXT and two-time WWE Women’s Tag champ away in a match that lasted just under 15 minutes.
While promoting Wrestle Queendom 8 and her return there, Charlie talked about needing to figure out if she still has a place in the wrestling world. She seemed to enjoy her time there:
Could a higher profile company be next? Will Ospreay must have been impressed. Far as we know, the currently sidelined AEW star/EVE producer doesn’t have the power to sign people in AEW. But we assume Tony Khan will listen to his Billy GOAT, who was clear in his answer to a Wrestling Twitter-er asking if his boss in Jacksonville should sign Charlie:
Excited that Charlie looks to back in the mix? Do you think she’d be a good addition for AEW?
