The World Cup 2026 has come to an end and 15 of the 16 Barcelona players who entered the tournament are still alive as only Ronald Araujo (who didn’t feature for Uruguay) saw his nation eliminated in the opening phase.
Barça players did not exactly steal the show in the group stage, with Lamine Yamal and Marcus Rashford (who is still technically under contract as of today) the only two Blaugrana stars to find the net while the likes of Joan Garcia, Eric Garcia and Gavi have barely played for Spain.
Raphinha suffered an injury in Brazil’s second game after struggling in the opener, and new signing Anthony Gordon hasn’t impressed yet for England. Pedri has not been quite himself in North America, and Ferran Torres has been in the news for some very big misses rather than scoring easy chances for La Roja. Hamza Abdelkarim is getting important minutes for Egypt at the biggest stage, but the 18-year-old hasn’t had a big moment yet.
But some Barça stars have done quite well, with João Cancelo making big contributions for Portugal, Pau Cubarsí and Dani Olmo playing perhaps the most consistent football out of all Spain players so far, Jules Kounde finally looking like himself again as France cruise through the early stages, and Frenkie de Jong earning big praise as he dominates midfield for the Dutch.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
Who was Barcelona’s best player in the World Cup group stage?
Now it’s over to you! Feel free to share your thoughts, predictions, opinions and answers in the comments section below!
