Word From Author:
Since today the focus is solely on our home match against Manchester City, today’s DT will be abbreviated. Tomorrow’s will feature live reactions to the events. May there be a bit of peace before potential chaos or elation that
will ensue.
Dear MM,
Here We Go Again. And again we find ourselves against our eternal CL foe – Pep Guardiola and Manchester City. I’m freestyling this but I believe we are leading in this tie over the past years with a victory in 21/22, loss in 22/23, 23/24 win, and last year’s win as well. However, and someone feel free to check this, I assume our underlying stats (even just the goal differential) are a fair share closer. Last year’s tie was likely the primary anomaly. Anyway, in more recent news both teams arrive at the Bernabeu facing general calamity / crisis. Although City did win the match at the Bernabeu earlier this season (a thrilling 0-1 if I remember correctly), City has been pretty hit-or-miss for the past month with inconsistent results, a shaky defense, and Haaland at times struggling to be fed the ball. In a similar vein, Real Madrid finds themselves facing many of the same problems as well as an almost insurmountable injury list. Personally, I expect to this to be a somewhat cagey match especially given that the return leg will be at the Etihad (where Real Madrid have never won during regular time). Los Blancos will need to win and likely score quickly before the Santiago Bernabeu turns restless — a typical feature of recent times.
Cheers,
J
