Barcelona have gone to the market to search for a new midfielder after Frenkie de Jong was ruled out with a long-term knee injury, according to transfer expert Matteo Moretto.
De Jong will miss a signficant amount of time after suffering an MCL tear during the World Cup, and his relationship with Hansi Flick is reportedly strained after several incidents in recent months.
Frenkie may no longer have a big role, if any at all, on the team moving forward if the reports are true, so Barça have been looking
for options in midfield in recent days.
Manchester City and Spain’s Rodri is the dream of many Barça fans, especially if they are able to steal him from Real Madrid, but there are other names on the club’s radar as well.
Marc Casadó could be an in-house option to earn more minutes but doesn’t seem to be part of Flick’s plans either, so it does appear Barça could be signing a new central midfielder in this window.
So today’s Barca Blaugranes Question of the Day is:
What is the ideal midfield signing Barcelona should make to replace Frenkie de Jong?
