If winning the Peach Bowl and advancing to the College Football Playoff National Championship game wasn’t enough good news for Indiana football, Saturday provided a bit more.
The Hoosiers landed a commitment
from Ja’Hyde Brown, a wide receiver in the class of 2027 out of the Christian Academy of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, on Saturday afternoon, per an announcement from Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals .
Brown is rated as a 4-star prospect ranking as the 49th highest-rated wide receiver and 358th highest-rated prospect overall in the class of 2027, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s the third member of Indiana’s 2027 recruiting class, joining quarterback Jameson Purcell and fellow wide receiver James Bethea.
Indiana’s wide receivers have been among the best nationally under position coach and offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan. Elijah Sarratt leads the nation in receiving touchdowns with 15 (with some help from the Hoosiers’ ongoing playoff run), Omar Cooper Jr. hauled in the catch of the season at Penn State and Charlie Becker has emerged to become one of the best contested catch options in the sport in the latter half of the season.
