The 3-4 Las Vegas Raiders play at the 2-5 New York Jets on Sunday. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. PT. Here are five keys to victory for Las Vegas:
Stop the run:
The Rams ran right over the Raiders as they compiled 199 yards on the ground last week. That is a recipe for a defeat. Rob Leonard’s unit must tighten the ship this week.
Run the ball:
Yes, this has been a focal point every week and every week it seems to be a problem area for Las Vegas. The Raiders have had the worst running game in the NFL this season.
Last week, they ran the ball just 17 times. They have to establish the run at some point. Ashton Jeanty said he think the Raiders can run on the Jets because they have some players not interested in tackling. It’s time to live up to those words.
Be Better in red zone on both sides of the ball:
On offense, in the past two games, the Raiders converted in the red zone just three of 10 attempts. On defense, in the past two games, the Raiders allowed touchdowns on eight of their opponents’ 10 trips to the red zone. That’s another recipe for defeat. That must change this week.
Be better than a bad team:
The Raiders are 3-0 against teams with a combined record of 3-16. They are 0-4 against teams with a combined record of 17-9 record. The Jets are 2-5. The Raiders are better than the Jets. They need to show it.
Take advantage of an Aaron Glenn weakness:
Since he took over in 2025, Jets head coach Aaron Glenn’s team have been outscored 106-7 in the final two minutes of the first half. That’s a weird quirk. But it’s real. Go take advantage, Las Vegas.
