Slow news days are about to be a thing of the past, as training camp is underway. It may take a few days for the news to roll in, but we will be back in business in no time.

George Kittle Gets Honest About Davante Adams Ahead of 49ers-Rams
“He’s fantastic. He’s still such an elite route runner. I try to
watch this film and be like, ‘Oh, I could do that. So, I’m just like, ‘Nah, I can’t do that. He’s pretty special,’” Kittle said during the video on X on July 23. “Just to be an elite red-zone threat? Like, ‘Hey, we’re in the red zone. Now, Davante’s going to score.’ To have that confidence from your quarterback, from your team. I don’t think there’s anybody even closer than touchdowns right now.
“Share some of those big dog.”
49ers to work out UFL MVP quarterback Jack Plummer ahead of training camp
According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the San Francisco 49ers are set to work out United Football League (UFL) MVP Jack Plummer on Friday, a day before veterans report to training camp.
Plummer also has a workout scheduled with the Miami Dolphins.
2026 San Francisco 49ers training camp preview
Did the 49ers do enough to contend in football’s toughest division?
A 35-point playoff defeat would seem to indicate the Niners have a long road back to the top of their division. But they don’t see it that way, as their many offseason moves can attest.
They added wide receivers Mike Evans and Christian Kirk, defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa and linebacker Dre Greenlaw. And they figure to get some of their stars back from injury, including defensive end Nick Bosa, linebacker Fred Warner and tight end George Kittle. Even their top three 2026 draft picks (wideout De’Zhaun Stribling, edge rusher Romello Height and running back Kaelon Black) are age 23 or older and have extensive college football experience.
If all of the above falls into place, the Niners hope they can catch — and potentially pass — Seattle and Los Angeles in the NFC West and reclaim the conference’s top spot.
The 10 Most Interesting 49ers in Training Camp This Year
7. Renardo Green | Cornerback
Statistically, he was the 49ers’ best cornerback last season. But he got in a shouting match with head coach Kyle Shanahan during their playoff loss to the Seahawks, and the 49ers even benched him for a drive, so you know they’re not completely satisfied with him. Then this offseason, they signed veteran cornerbacks Nate Hobbs and Jack Jones. Clearly, the 49ers want to push Green, who’s a subpar tackler and has intercepted just two passes since high school. If he doesn’t have a lights-out camp, he could lose his starting spot for Week 1.
8. Upton Stout | Nickelback
He’s the 49ers’ best young defensive player, but he was a non-factor in the playoff loss to the Seahawks because he hardly was on the field. In fact, he played just 18 snaps. The Seahawks offense used lots of tight ends, and Robert Saleh didn’t feel confident leaving Stout on the field against Seattle’s base offense. Will Raheem Morris find a way to keep Stout on the field all the time this season? He’s too good to come off it, especially given the lack of talent the 49ers have in their secondary.
The 49ers’ Biggest Weakness Ahead of Training Camp
The glaring flaws in depth were seen at linebacker, wide receiver and along the defensive line.
The 49ers have been the most injured team in the National Football League over the last 10 years while fielding some of the oldest rosters during that time frame. Depth should always be an offseason point of emphasis.
But the 49ers took a different approach to their offseason moves by doubling down on proven veteran talent.
The team opened free agency by signing 32-year-old Mike Evans, who has a reputation as one of the best wide receivers of this decade but has also dealt with injuries over the past couple of years.
The 49ers’ next-best move was signing Dre Greenlaw, who has spent the last two years in and out of the lineup because of injuries.
The 49ers addressed last season’s positional weaknesses with these moves, but they are not transactions to rely on because of the players’ histories of missing time. If that trend repeats itself, the team will be back where it started this offseason.
The 49ers’ front office may understand this reality based on the type of contracts Evans and Greenlaw received, which were low-risk, high-reward deals.
49ers’ Fred Warner has something to prove after catastrophic injury: ‘Toughest times’
His absence from the final 11 games of the year seemingly played a role in Warner’s drastic drop on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026. The list is determined by current players, who vote on their peers based on their performance from the previous year.
Warner earned the No. 54 spot on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026 after coming in at No. 16 last season.
“I always believed strongly that everything happens for a reason,” Warner told The Athletic in a recent feature. “And it would be wrong to abandon that in the toughest times.”
