On3 broke the latest MSU Basketball news just a few minutes ago. It is still not on MSU’s social media or website, but the above post convinces me that this is legitimate news.
From the South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu, Anton Bonke stands 7’2” tall and weighs 270 pounds. Obviously, he brings some tremendous size to the Spartan front court.
Bonke has two years of collegiate experience. He played in 16 games for the Providence Friars as a freshman and then in 34 games, with 32 starts, last year for the Charlotte 49ers.
Last season, Bonke averaged 10.6 PPG and 8.3 RPG. He also had 51 blocks on the year, good for 1.5 per game. This is a player that is going to be a contributor at both ends of the floor and will help fill the Carson Cooper-sized hole in the Spartan lineup.
As mentioned earlier today in the article about Divine Ugochukwu’s exit, we will have our new projections for next year’s rotation in an article tomorrow.
