The Big 12 Conference regular season champion TCU Horned Frogs earned a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament and will take on SWAC champion Grambling State in the first round on Friday evening. TCU (15-2-2, 9-1-1 Big 12) kicks off its match at 7 p.m. at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium, with the winner advancing to face either Illinois or No. 7 seed Memphis in the second round. It’s the sixth time in school history that the Horned Frogs have hosted a first-round game. It’s also the second straight
year TCU has done so.
TCU is one of 17 schools to have earned an NCAA Tournament bid in nine of the last 10 seasons. The Horned Frogs are also one of 13 programs nationally to have hosted six of the last nine NCAA Tournament First Round matches on their home campus site. The Big 12 earned eight bids to the NCAA Tournament. BYU earned the league’s automatic bid via winning the Big 12 Tournament title, while Baylor, UCF, Colorado, Kansas, Texas Tech and West Virginia are the other conference teams that earned a bid.
