The Utah Jazz announced that they signed Max Abmas and Cameron McGriff.
With that signing it meant releasing Steven Crowl and Matthew Murrell.
This likely means that Crowl and Murrell will be playing for the Salt Lake City Stars.
There was a bit of buzz surrounding Matthew Murrell from local beat writers, thanks to his impressive athleticism at training camp and the Jazz scrimmage, particularly with his leaping ability.
Both Abmas and McGriff have previous G-League experience, and we’ll see what they can do with this new opportunity. It’s always interesting to see if one of your G-League players can pop. Could one of these players be the next Lu Dort? With the Jazz still in a developmental phase, this also gives Abmas and McGriff a real chance to earn some minutes if minutes become available. Probably the most recent G League success story for Utah was Georges Niang, now back with the Jazz. We’re not far away from Utah becoming a competitive team in the future, and having a G-League player earn their way to a full contract would be a significant part of the future competitive teams.
