Dynamite airs tonight (Sept. 3) with a live show from 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is the second episode of Dynamite during the four week build to All Out, which takes place on September 20.
Mercedes Moné pays the price for crossing the line with Ospreay joke
After retaining the TBS championship in a 4-way match at Forbidden Door, Mercedes “Nine Belts” Moné warned any woman with a championship that she is still looking to add more gold to her collection. However, before that can happen, Mercedes may be losing one belt from her pile by the end of tonight’s
Dynamite.
Alex Windsor is challenging Mercedes for the TBS title tonight, and she has vowed to make the champ pay the price for crossing the line with last week’s joke about her man Will Ospreay. If you recall, Mercedes said she loves it when Will does the CEO dance, but she won’t hesitate to put Alex in a hospital bed right next to him.
Windsor pointed out that she already made the CEO tap out once in a tag team match (when she was not the legal competitor), and Mercedes knows damn sure that she can do it again. Can Alex follow through on her word with the TBS title on the line, or will Mercedes get away with joking about Will Ospreay’s neck injury? Tune into Dynamite to find out.
The rest of the card
Kenny Omega and AEW World Champion Hangman Page reunite as part of an 8-man tag team match tonight, joining forces with Kevin Knight and Speedball Bailey, to take on Josh Alexander, Kyle Fletcher, and the Young Bucks. I’d say the babyfaces are the clear favorites here seeing how the Don Callis Family is stuck teaming up with a couple of jobbers. At any rate, AEW needs to find a new challenger for Page at All Out, and Callis says one of his guys will take that spot. But if Don’s men lose this match, could it instead be Kenny Omega who emerges as the most worthy opponent for Page?
I don’t know if this is meant for TV or not, but it sounds like Tony Khan is planning to pay tribute to Taz tonight in the former ECW Arena with a ceremony to induct him into the Hardcore Hall of Fame. If this is indeed televised, could it instead turn into an angle where someone messes with his son HOOK, who just returned to AEW last week with new theme music?
Other stuff to keep an eye
– It looks like Jon Moxley is now trying to recruit Daniel Garcia into the Death Riders. They will have a rematch this week on Collision, so maybe Jon can pound him into submission. How stoked will Wheeler Yuta be if Daniel joins up and becomes the new guy who can take most of the beatings whenever it’s time for the higher ranking members of the group to run away from the babyfaces?
– Speaking of Mox, he’s still being hunted down by Darby Allin, but Darby may have to go through Gabe Kidd first before he can get his hands on Jon at All Out. Is AEW planning a deathmatch or hardcore street fight between Allin and Kidd over the next couple of weeks in Philadelphia?
– One title match that appears likely for AEW’s residency in the 2300 Arena is Mark Briscoe vs. TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher, though Mark will have to go through a different member of the Don Callis family before earning the title shot. At what point in this process will MJF try to screw over Briscoe?
– Adam Copeland and his asshole Christian Cage took out Stokely Hathaway last week. FTR responded by saying they’ll end the legendary careers of Cope & Cage at All Out in their hometown of Toronto. Will we get a tease of the match if these four men cross paths tonight?
– Ricochet and GOA are on a collision course with The Hurt Syndicate. Is this going to be a trios match with MVP joining the fight, or will Ricochet have to go one-on-one with Bob Lashley as part of this feud?
– Thekla and Jamie Hayter brawled outside the 2300 Arena last week and will clearly have to settle their issues inside the ring. How will they add more fuel to the fire tonight?
– A clone of Hologram is coming soon to AEW. Is Hologram’s undefeated streak finally in danger whenever El Clon arrives?
– It sounds like Orange Cassidy is medically cleared. When will the time be right for him to return to AEW?
– Can Konosuke Takeshita and AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada co-exist in the Don Callis Family, or is there room for only one of their egos atop the group?
– Where the f*** is Chris Jericho?
What will you be looking for on Dynamite?
