Earlier this week, USA Baseball released its final roster for the organization’s 28-player 2026 Collegiate National Team. Among the roster’s players were two Texas baseball standouts: right-handed pitcher Luke Harrison and one of college baseball’s most naturally gifted hitters, Anthony Pack Jr. The Texas duo are now the 33rd and 34th Texas players to land among the annual all-American team’s ranks, with the first three occurring back in 1974.
In the coming days, as Harrison, Pack Jr., and their teammates
conclude just now travel with their temporary teammates to Taichung City, Taiwan’s Intercontinental Baseball Stadium, where USA Baseball will then compete in the inaugural World Collegiate Baseball Championship, which gets underway later this month come July 11.
Here’s how Texas Athletics summed up Harrison and Pack’s statistics in 2026 that helped lead them here:
“Harrison dazzled on the mound for USA Baseball over the team’s eight exhibition contests. He led the club with 10 strikeouts, not allowing a run over 4 1/3 innings [and] just two hits, holding opposing batters to a .133 average. … On the flip side, [Pack Jr.] led USA Baseball’s offense in triples (1), RBI (5) and total bases (10). His lone home run and four stolen bases were also tied for club-highs. The 2026 Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year’s slugging (.500) was second-best on the team, while his hits (5) and walks (4) … tied for second.”
Prior to the roster’s finalization, Harrison and Pack Jr. spent the previous 11 days practicing with the team in North Carolina and Virginia.
A few weeks back, Pack Jr. also received USA Baseball’s 2026 “Freshman of the Year” honor.
This year’s Collegiate National Team reflects the talent of at least 21 school across five conferences based in the U.S. As additional outlets have noted, the SEC’s Florida leads all schools with three players on this year’s roster.
Just more than half of the current Collegiate National Team’s roster (15) are SEC products, which leads the nation. The Big Ten will send six selected players later this month; the Big 12, four; the AC, two; and the Sun Belt, one.
