You can almost smell it. Football is right around the corner as the Dallas Cowboys will be heading to Oxnard, California next week to kickoff 2026 training camp.
While we have spent a lot of time talking about the Cowboys defense this offseason, the offense is the Cowboys calling card. This is where they shine, and one reason for that last year was the play of running back Javonte Williams. Williams had 252 carries for 1,201 rushing yards in 2025, a career best. His previous high, 203 carries for 903
rushing yards, came in his rookie season.
Williams is back on a new free agent deal and will be expected to carry the load at running back. So we want to know how you think he follows up last season. We have five choices.
Less than 1,000 yards
This probably means two things. Either injury has struck, or one of the backups steps up and eats into Williams reps, allowing the Cowboys to rest him some.
1,000 – 1,099 yards
This would be a solid follow-up as long as someone else is kicking in from the backup spot.
1,100 – 1,199 yards
Another solid number, but also likely that Williams is keeping the bulk of the reps.
1,200 – 1,299 yards
Matching last year would put Williams in the conversation for one of the better starting running backs in the NFL.
1,300+ yards
If this happens, Williams is having the season of his life with plenty of grinding out the clock in games the team is leading, and/or absolutely no one is giving him any relief from the RB2 spot.
