In light of the Philadelphia Eagles’ interior offensive line struggles, some have wondered if the team might be interested in bringing Mekhi Becton back to Philly.
There have been calls for a reunion from some community members here at Bleeding Green Nation:
Becton is no longer a free agent after signing with the Green Bay Packers on Monday morning, according to a report from NFL insider Jeremy Fowler. Becton also reportedly drew interest from the Pittsburgh Steelers. No word of any interest from the Eagles,
who currently still have an open roster spot.
There was reporting on the Eagles’ lack of interest in Becton earlier this year from Tony Pauline:
“During Shrine Bowl week, I was told that Becton has returned to many of his former ways, including firing the agency that helped get his game back on track, and that has raised red flags with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles were surprised (if not shocked) and disappointed by the turn of events.“
Becton’s career has taken a turn for the worse ever since his Super Bowl LIX success. After the 2024 season, he left Philly to sign with the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency. Becton struggled and got benched while the Bolts fielded one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL. Becton was cut by the Chargers after 2025 and remained available as a free agent until joining the Packers.
If the Eagles felt like Becton was part of the solution moving forward, they would’ve made a better effort to bring him back.
