While Arman Tsarukyan was not competing this weekend, he still managed to steal the spotlight for a moment during Saturday’s big MVP MMA event on Netflix.
The Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano triple header event also featured a fight between David Mgoyan and Albert Morales, with the Tsarukyan-supported Mgoyan winning via unanimous decision. So the Armenian fighter was on hand in the Intuit Dome when Namo Fazil tapped Jake Babian in the second round and called “Ahalkalakets” out.
How did Tsarukyan handle
the challenge? In standard Tsarukyan fashion: by nearly starting a brawl.
Video showed Tsarukyan trying to jump the fencing to get at Fazil cageside. The camera then cuts to backstage as MVP COO head Nakisa Bidarian attempts to stop Tsarukyan and a sizeable entourage from starting something.
Most promoters wouldn’t be happy with a fighter from another promotion starting crap in the back, but MVP head Jake Paul made a point to support Tsarukyan in his silliness.
“I wish that scrap would’ve happened backstage,” Paul said after. “There is two sides to me. There is the business side, and then there is the fighter side. I was right there with Arman, trying to get the squabble to happen. And then Nakisa [Bidarian] stopped us, so I’ve gotta listen to big brother here. I was like, ‘Yo! Let’s run it. Let’s run it!'”
