Liverpool FC midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has been linked with a return to Spain after a loan spell at Celta Vigo last season, with sides like Celta, Valencia, and Real Betis rumoured to be after him. Now, a clear suitor has emerged: Girona.
According to a report in the Catalan press, the head coach, Michel, has approved the deal:
“Michel believes Girona is the perfect setting to relaunch his career.”
“The coach values his versatility, capable of playing as a pivot or center back. Two positions where
Girona urgently needs to strengthen to compete with confidence.”
Bajcetic spent last season on loan – first at RB Salzburg under Pep Lijnders, and then, when Lijnders was fired, he moved to Las Palmas, where an ill-fated relegation battle ensued.
After missing the season before due to injury, Bajcetic will undoubtedly be keen to continue getting regular football under his belt. Another season in La Liga seems like a good fit for his needs.
