Hello and welcome back to the Friday Feedbag. Wow, what a week. In a wild turn of events, the Mariners surely read my piece last week and took my advice to heart as they ripped off 6-game winning streak starting last Saturday in Atlanta. They started being themselves and playing up to their talent level and potential again, and may or may not have gotten a boost from a certain lovely Etsy Witch
, and here we are:
First place in the division that no one wanted to win a week ago, but now the Rangers
have been nipping at the heels of the Mariners and Astros. What a turn of events. What will next week hold?
Hopefully more of the continued rise of what Zach Mason and others here have dubbed as “Cutie Pie Power.” Leo Rivas’ walk-off dinger in the 13th? Cutie Pie Power. Harry Ford’s walk-off sac-fly in the 12th? Cutie Pie Power. Eduard Bazardo striking out fools in high-leverage innings? Cutie Pie Power. Everything Eugenio Suárez does on and off the field? Obvious Cutie Pie Power.

This Mariners team is full of Cutie Pies and guys who do Cutie Pie things. Much like the “You Gotta Love These Guys” Mariners teams of yore, this team seems have more personality than your average MLB team. Or, it might just be that they’re winning a lot and winning is fun so they’re all in good moods most of the time. Who can say?
What matters is that they are hot once again at the right time. I sure hope they stay that way.
THIS WEEK’S FEEDBAG PROMPT
I invite you to wildly speculate on what has changed with this Mariners team in the last week. Is it the mustaches? Is it witchcraft? Is it Cutie Pie Power? Are they just simply doing things good baseball players do? Talk about it as outlandishly as you want within site guidelines in the comments and on THE FEED.
Have a great weekend and hey how about a sweep of the Angels? Maybe some blowout victories even? I’ll take whatever I can get. Go Mariners.
