Former Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, and Mainz 05 head coach Jürgen Klopp is wasting little time putting his own stamp on the German national team — and Galatasaray’s Leroy Sané appears to be one of the notable casualties of the new era.
According to a report from Bild journalist Christian Falk (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Klopp has decided not to include Sané in his squad for Germany’s upcoming UEFA Nations League matches. The decision is significant considering Sané remains an experienced international
with 80 caps and 18 goals and was part of Germany’s squad at the 2026 World Cup. In six games across all competitions this season, however, Sané has yet to register a goal or assist for Galatasaray.
The omission also fits with reports that Klopp wants to use his first extended international window to evaluate a large group of players. With Klopp reportedly considering an expanded squad of around 40 players, Sané’s absence is particularly noteworthy.
